I’ve been interested in adding a drone to our kit to capture unique perspectives on our trips. But from working with them at my day job, I know drones can be expensive, tricky to operate, and, above all, large and bulky. While I often watch people’s amazing drone videos from around the world and wish I could get shots like that, I simply don’t want to haul around a giant heavy case for that purpose.
Enter Vantage Robotics new Snap 4K drone. It looks like it just might be the perfect drone for travelers who want to capture aerial footage of their adventures while still packing light. The drone is designed to fit into a day pack, weighs just over a pound, and is controllable via smartphone. It has a 4K Sony sensor and can capture 12MP stills and slow motion video in HD. It also has nifty automated features such as a follow mode, which makes it easy to get great video of you surfing or bike riding.
I’m excited for this product to be released. Right now, if you pre-order Snap, you can get a $400 discount off the retail price of $1295, which makes it very competitively priced with other drones on the market.
