The iPhone Photography Awards recently announced their 2015 winners and this photo I snapped in Cappadocia received an honorable mention in the Panorama category! This photo was taken about 6am in Goreme, Turkey from the balcony of Nostalji Cave Suit Hotel. I remember welcoming those morning calls to prayer from the nearby mosque, because I wanted to wake up early every morning to watch the balloons take off over this incredible landscape. Goreme is a place we could go back to over and over again!

It’s exciting to have one of my photos selected to be shown alongside such amazing examples of iPhone photography. I love my iPhone for taking pictures when traveling. They always say the best camera is the one you have with you at any given moment, and that is especially true of the iPhone. It’s the perfect travel camera—light and compact, it easily slips into my pocket. And the technology is constantly improving allowing for better pics. Not to mention the ever growing list of apps you can use to edit your pics to get the best out of them.

Shane loves lugging around his Sony a7S, but carrying a full-sized camera around all the time gets cumbersome. He’s been known to leave it behind on occasion and opt for his iPhone as well.

Of course, you are somewhat limited because of the fixed focal length of the camera, so I have been considering getting an accessory like the Olloclip 4-in-1 lens add on to add some more versatility to my snaps. I am also really intrigued by the recently announced DxO One but I think pics taken with that wouldn’t qualify for the iPhone Photography Awards.
